Pineview with the Mortons (aka., a break from my tent)

In July, Jake and Nicki came to visit from Wisconsin with their cute kiddos. Yeah! We rented a big house up in Morgan (up Ogden Canyon near Pineview Reservoir) and hung out together for three days. Nicki and I had been together approximately 2 hours before we decided to go shopping. Haha! Nothing too exciting ... just the Dollar Store and Albertsons but shopping nonetheless. Shopping makes me happy.
Mom, Kati, and Mel decided to join in the fun. Jake rented this jeep for the weekend. Fun!

While the big kids were in the hot tub, the little kids swam in the bathtub. Whatever works.

Melanie got us some discount hamburgers, and then of course I had to cook them. Ugh. I don't even eat hamburgers. I think they were 98% grease. The sun porch was FULL of smoke. Nicki and I had to keep running out of there cause we couldn't see or BREATH! Our faces pretty much say it all.

Dave and Jake wanted to bike down the mountain at Snow Basin, but they wanted $60 for bike rental and lift tickets, and we only had time for them to ride it one time. Ugh. So, Nicki and I used our charm to get them these contraptions for free. The rental guy had just got them and needed some suckers to try them out. Seemed like something Jake and Dave would try. So we signed them up, and off they went. They said it was fun but more work than a mountain bike since some parts were uphill, and obviously you'd have to kind of walk these uphill. Anyway, at least I'm not out $60. Looks like fun to me.

We're so glad Jake and Nicki and the kids were able to come out for a visit! We had a great time hanging out and playing with all of them. We miss them already. Can't wait til next time!

Currant Creek (Summer of the Tent - Part 4)

Four days after returning from Trek, we headed out to Currant Creek for a Tischner family reunion for three days for Grandma and Grandpa Tischner's 60th wedding anniversary. We used to camp at Currant Creek as kids with our Tischner side of the family, so it was fun to gather there again and reconnect. You'll notice I used the word "camp" which means I was once again in my tent for three days. I'm just sayin.


Just like the old days, the kids played in the river. The water is FREEZING, but they didn't seem to mind.
We made s'mores around the campfire with Grandma and Grandpa.

We gave Grandma Morton the sticky job of s'more assembly.

Nap time. It was too stinkin hot in the tents, so we drug the handy dandy cots outside to the shade for an afternoon snooze.
Dave was the first one to volunteer to put the kids down for naps. It's his favorite job.

We made our very own water slide with strategic rock placement. We are pretty awesome.

Aunt Kati made Grandma and Grandpa a box with seashells on it from Captiva. We filled it with letters from their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Sixty years together. Wow. They've been through a lot. I love them both.
